America Suspends ALL Afghan Immigration After National Guard Shooting
America has frozen all Afghan immigration requests after an Afghan national allegedly ambushed and critically wounded two National Guard soldiers just steps from the White House.
Two National Guard soldiers were shot and critically wounded on Wednesday in downtown Washington near the White House
A 29-year-old Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal has been identified as the suspected shooter in the ambush.
The official account of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services posted on X on Nov 27 a hard pivot that marks America’s most dramatic immigration suspension in years.
“Effective immediately, processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is stopped indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols. The protection and safety of our homeland and of the American people remains our singular focus and mission,’ it said.
In a televised statement U.S President Trump said authorities are “confident that the suspect in custody is a foreigner who entered our country from Afghanistan… He was flown in by the Biden Administration in September 2021 on those infamous flights… His status was extended under legislation signed by President Biden.”
“We must now reexamine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden, and we must take all necessary measures to ensure the removal of any alien from any country who does not belong here or add benefit to our country” he added.
U.S. Immigration Attorney Cyrus Mehta said on X one person’s actions “does not at all justify the suspension of immigration benefits for all Afghan nationals.”
However Afghan–U.S. citizen and human right activist Eqbal Osmani said on X that given the seriousness of the events, “a complete review of all security and vetting protocols is both justified and necessary. “
Yikes!
