Greens Target Muslim Vote With ‘Punish Labour for Gaza’ Leaflets In Urdu
Once the party of recycling and anti-nuclear protests, the Greens are now openly campaigning in Urdu and urging voters to “punish Labour for Gaza” in a sectarian pitch.
The Green Party is distributing campaign leaflets in Urdu during the Gorton & Denton by-election, a clear pivot away from environmentalism toward sectarian identity politics.
Hannah Spencer, the Green Party candidate and qualified plumber, is in a tight three-way race for the Gorton and Denton by-election on Feb 26, 2026. Polls show Reform UK leading at 36%, Labour at 33%, Greens at 21%.
Leaflets seen locally urge voters in Urdu to deliver “one more push to the collapsing walls of Labour,” to “punish them for Gaza,” to “defeat Reform,” and to “vote Green for a strong voice for Muslims.”
Fesl Reza-Khan, co-founder of Muslim Greens has also put out a call for “Urdu and Punjabi-speaking volunteers” for the Gorton and Denton by-election campaign.
Green figures are warning that Reform UK represents an “extreme danger,” and presenting the by-election as a cultural showdown – appear more relaxed about engaging with hardliners.
Spencer called Reform candidate, the GB News presenter and academic Matt Goodwin a “full time” extremist.
But Spencer and Green Party leader Zack Polanski had no issues talking with the ultra-conservative British Muslim news site 5 Pillers, which published an opinion piece in 2021 by the head of an extremist Islamist fundamentalist group.
“Reform UK are an extreme danger,” Polanksi told the publication.
Do they know who they are really courting here?
