It is no secret that Restaurant 22 on Chesterton Road in Cambridge serves sublime food. On top of the three AA rosettes earned in 2022, last year saw the Victorian townhouse-based restaurant enter the group of exceptional restaurants with Michelin stars.
Earlier this year, Restaurant 22 gained a Good Food Guide Award and was named one of the 100 top restaurants in the UK at the National Restaurant Awards. Despite its position in Cambridge for more than 30 years, Restaurant 22 clearly still has the limelight in the city’s fine dining scene – and it is well-deserved.

One of the Michelin Guide’s inspectors ate a meal here recently that turned out to be one of their stand-out dishes for the entire month of October. The inspector praised the dish of Thirkleby Duck, burnt pear, celeriac and peppercorn, saying: “The duck breast itself had been masterfully cooked; its texture was firm and succulent, while the thin layer of fat had been nicely crisped and glazed with a reduction of soy sauce and port.
