Europe Braces For Spain To Legalise 500,000 Illegal Immigrants
Spain is set to legalise nearly 500,000 illegal immigrants, with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez calling the move an act of “justice” and “normalisation.”
Socialist Sánchez says it’s an act of “justice” and “normalisation,” but commentators are not buying it.
Sánchez said in an April 14 post on X that the Council of Ministers will approve a royal decree launching the extraordinary regularization of people living in the country illegally, a process expected to affect nearly half a million individuals.
Critics said that under the Schengen Area, illegal immigrants granted legal status in Spain could move freely across much of Europe now.

Societal data analyst and data scientist Jonatan Pallesen said on X that the real number of illegal immigrants is “unknown and may well be a million.”
“It is really extreme,” he said.
“We have free travel within the EU, so those migrants can now go anywhere. It is not a stable situation when a single left-wing term in office anywhere in Europe can bring a million more migrants to all of us. This has big implications for the future of free movement within Europe, and even the future of EU,” he added.
Blogger Eugyppius, who writes about the “tyrannical aspects of Western Liberal Democracy” on Substack, said on X: “The absolute worst thing about the EU/Schengen is you only need one lunatic member state to do something like this and then it becomes everybody’s problem.”
This is going to push the bloc to its limits and then some.
