A series of mysterious glowing light clusters was spotted streaking across the night sky over Zahedan, the capital of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province, on September 21.

Footage captured from residential neighbourhoods in Zahedan shows orange light objects moving in formation.

People have speculated that they are military parachute illumination flares.

The sightings come during a period of heightened geopolitical tensions across West Asia involving Iran, the United States, and regional powers.

The region has also seen localised friction following recent clashes between Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces and Jaish al-Adl militants, which Iranian state media reported left two dead between September 18 and 19.

Iranian authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the sightings or categorized the unidentified objects as an active threat.

Bright, multi-coloured lights have also been spotted over Tehran, Iran.
