Zack Polanski Supporters in Small Boat Crisis Over Council Tax Row

Green Party leader Zack Polanski is facing pressure after admitting he may have paid no council tax while living on a houseboat in east London.

The very British row centres on whether Polanski’s houseboat was his main home, which could have required council tax payments under local government rules.

Tax lawyer and investigative journalist Dan Neidle said that Polanski and his partner called their narrowboat their “amazing home” for three years and registered to vote there.

“If it was his main residence, council tax was due. None was paid. His team says he stayed there only “occasionally” – if true, there’s a very big problem,” he said.

His supporters are not happy. With the reporting that is.

Neidle’s sleuthing has seen him look into the tax affairs of Labour’s Angela Rayner, then Conservative Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi and Reform’s Richard Tice.

Polanski apologised and has said the issue was an unintentional mistake and that he has taken steps to correct it.

Awkward for a party that regularly calls for higher taxes, wealth taxes, and more redistribution!
